ME-109 E3 vs. Spitfire MK II in Wings of Prey

Dogfight between an ME -109 E3 and a Spitfire MK II in Wings of Prey using a 3 point clip with Freetrack.

The bullet proof glass was not incorporated into the canopy framing until the G model. The F model had the bullet proof glass bolted onto the exterior of the windscreen.

F model didn't have bullet proof glass built in to the canopy railing. It was bolted onto the outside of it

Rookie pilot shooting an even greener pilot, but the plane was downed. Turn in with your enemy, and get close to make your shots count. No throttle/flaps adjustments were made on the near-stall climbs and turns, and plenty of ammo was wasted on improperly leaded shots and long range chances.

Thats what I ment: If you add realistic gunnery the chase will last longer cause it is more difficult to hit the target. If you disable realistic gunnery it is very easy to hit a target: All you have to do is to get the target in your sight and shoot, but with realistic gunnery ON, then you must aim a bit ahead of the targets since it takes time for the bullet to travel

Wrong cockpit for an E-3.

The canopy framing and instrument layout is of a later variant. Looks more like an early G model.

You dont understand, that option has nothing to do with leading the target but about damage.With it on it takes only a burst to take down another plane.

Well actually the marks of Spitfire operating at the time they were not just bad but death traps. The Merlin engine of earlier variants was prone to stalling, it leaked easily and exploded after little punishment. Alot of that was due to the Mk.1a's horrible armour. It was the wooden hurricanes that won the Battle of Britain.
