Massive Montana Field Fire!!!!!!!! 2021 Wheat Harvest

Today's video is all about the massive 1000 plus acre field fire that started at our neighbor's farm. Uncle Chris gets the big John Deere tractor and disk over to the fire to try to help. They went to try to disk up the soil so that it would create a fire barrier to protect the wheat crops. The problem is this fire got really big really fast due to the wind and it was very dangerous. There were 5 volunteer fire departments to help. There are at least 5 big tractors disking fire barriers. The fire spread into the coulee where Campbell Aviation flew in with his plane to try to help stop the fire by air. It burned through the coulee pretty fast and got into our stubble field. It burned a crop of wheat and it kept burning in the coulee for 3 days. Grandpa and Dad talk about the fire and their experience with other fires. We are all safe and so are our neighbors. This fire started when a combine bearing went out at the neighbor's place. The wind helped the fire get started and before they could put it out, it was out of control. Fires are very dangerous for people, wildlife, buildings, equipment, and crops. We are very blessed and grateful that no one was injured because nothing matters more than life. We also can't thank our volunteer firefighters enough for their dedication and courage!!!!!!! I hope you like my video and thank you for watching.

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Love your Grandpa Kate he is the voice of experience and he has the knowledge to enable future generations to be the best they can be. Listen and take heed of every word he says Kate. All your grandpa’s advice will be invaluable when you are running the farm on your own in the future.

Kate, I appreciate your passion for farming. You are a sponge when listening to her Dad, Uncle, and grandpa to learn about all aspects of the operation. They have a wealth of knowledge to share. Keep up the great work ethic and great video's. This former Iowa farm kid has Montana on my bucket list to venture that way to see the operations in person. It is very impressive. Take care.

This is why I love farm communities. Everyone sends equipment to help their neighbors. Half the fire department are farmers. Everybody coming together for one common goal

I volunteer on the fire department in a farming community... Seen lots of scary fires... I'm actually to busy farming to be dedicated to Fire Department.... But somebody has to do it, help when I can.... One of the few volunteer jobs I do where people come up to me, to let me know they appreciate it!!! Fires can get very serious...very dangerous FAST!!! Big thanks to neighbors and people who are willing to fight these fires. Fighting fires and farming at the same time have made for some long days and nights!! Great video lets people realize how stressful farming can be at times... Farming is never boring always an unexpected situation coming up!!!

You are very lucky to be around these older guys like your dad and Grandpa. As you get older you will realize they are great people to be around. They've been around for along time and good people to be around especially your Grandpa. Try to keep hanging around them, a lot of wisdom to be gained from being around them. Enjoy your videos.

When I was a kid, in the 1950's, I used to ride the train from the titanium mine way up in the Adirondack high mountains down to the port of Albany, NY. The heavy trains and hot iron brake shoes would spark fires all the way down out of the mountains. At night, you could see a ring of fire around the wheels. The fire companies would all go on alert when they heard us coming, blowing the horn for the crossings.... Glad you're all safe and the Lord switched the wind around! WillyB

Well done, Kate. When you're driving around work through what you would do in the case of different emergencies. Talk it over with your dad and grandpa and then you won't have so much anxiety and will be better prepared for what ever might happen. Did it for my 26+ years in the Air Force and still practice it even now. Preparation pays big dividends. Stay safe!
