The 'Collaborationist' Dutch Union in WW2

From July 1940 to December 1941, there is another nationalist "party" allowed in German-occupied Netherlands: the Nederlandsche Unie (the Dutch Union). The Union is allowed by the Germans to exist for a while because its leaders say they want to cooperate with the Germans. In a few months, 800,000 members sign up for the new political "party”. Never was a political movement so large in the Netherlands.

However, the Union is an opponent of the NSB: de Dutch Nazi Party. In the fall of 1940, newspaper vendors of the Nederlandsche Unie are repeatedly attacked by members of the WA. (The WA is the NSB's fighting squad). Union stores (where you can get Union promotional items) are vandalized and defaced. There are fights between NSB members and Union supporters.

When it turns out that the Union is less pro-German than desired, it is banned in December 1941. And the top of the party is imprisoned.

Did some of the Dutch Union members escape and collaborated with the Allies? What happened to the Dutch Union after the war?

Wauw, nog nooit van de Nederlandse Unie gehoord. Ik dacht dat na de volledige bezetting direct de NSB aan de macht kwam. Interessant Stefan!❤
