The way I avoided this song for a year bc I was so hurt by the memory. Then coming back a year later, healed heart and feeling happy than ever. This is good music.

I believe the water is the way he sees love. He falls into the pool which is like falling in love. He is like a life guard in the video so it's as if he fell in love with a local who comes to the pool. In the song it says "This isn't what I signed up for." As if to say that he signed up for the community, not for the sole purpose to fall in love. The dissolving colors, to me, represent the love that he bottles up inside of himself, maybe the colors presenting themselves are his true feelings for this person presenting themselves.

There always seemed to be more to this particular story. It's a funny feeling that years later I learned I was right. In hindsight, this was just the first of many new discoveries to be revealed in NITESHIFT once the door is opened. It's impossible to explain, but over time I can show you.

*im not 100% sure on this but for those who are confused about the video clip*
The man is at first hesitant to get into the pool, which represents love
he then drops into the pool, meaning that he’s fallen in love. As the song says, “I just wanted you to watch me dissolve, slowly, *in a pool full of your love* “.
When he comes back above the water and sees the women around him, this shows that he’s trapped in love and cant escape easily. He’s then dragged under - which could mean suffocating or hectic love.
He’s then spat out of the water meaning he could have been left alone by love - but only momentarily as he then falls back into the pool or “love”.
When he dissolves and comes back up - this could be him melting for someone / finding his true love as we see him in the end, by himself fairly comfortably floating in the water, catching his breath. Like this true love he’s found is like a fresh breath of air or he’s finally able to breathe from having had to deal with suffocating or troublesome past relationships.
The song / video is basically saying that love is rough until you find the right one.
