A good steering technique is crucial for smooth driving - and this technique will change depending on the speed of the car. When driving at high speed we must steer the car very carefully and use the correct road position - as any loss of control could be disastrous. In this video we will show how we steer our car as we drive as fast as we are legally allowed in the UK.

This is the channel that allowed me to pass my driver’s test.

Not in the UK, but the road rules are exactly the same.

Thank you for everything. 😄

I passed my practical driving test 2 days ago at first attempt and with 3 minors only. I just want to say thank you for all you do for the industry. I don't know if you know just how much impact you're making and how safer our roads are by reason of these videos.

Thank you.

Dear Advance Driving Team, I passed my driving test today at the first attempt with only two minors, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for creating such informative videos that certainly helped me to pass.

The content you create with live examples is highly commendable, the examiner complimented me at the end of the test for excellent driving and I must thank you for it!

I have passed my exam 4 years ago. Your videos still helps. I am amazed how I always learn something new from these videos, for example to feel the tyre grip on the wheel is a great advice. I like it when people compliment my driving skills sometime. A lot of credit goes to you as well. Well done & keep it up guys.

Off topic but when it comes to driving imo I don't really feel the motivation to drive or have driving lessons as that I felt that when it comes to driving in London, I have to deal with inconsiderate drivers, etc. But when it comes to watching you guys doing the driving on YouTube, I felt really focused and felt like I learnt a lot at my own pace. I want to say thanks to you guys for creating this channel for learners like me or just for anyone really.

Thank you - very helpful advice, especially with learning to 'feel' the lightness of the steering etc. as a warning of reduced control (Need a full lap recording of the next track day though ;) )

Mat in a crash helmet in a 911 doing 115 was a bit jarring at first but that technique is impressive.
Of course the g-force meter had to make an appearance.

You used a Fiesta ST, got your hands on a Hot Hatchback and a Porsche 911

Yes, cars always want to go straight ahead only when it's new or 4 wheels aligned well. If something of wheel or tyres modified or changed, and no alignments afterward, steering wheel may not straighten itself, offset towards either left or right, or loose, too slow self-straightening or even no self-straightening. Always have to check its "self-steering" direction, align 4 wheels if necessary.

All single carriage ways are either A or B roads and are therefore used by other vehicles such as tractors, cyclists, horses, lorries etc. so coming out of your lane is a big NO NO and should always be frowned upon. Not only should you drive to match the cars abilities but your own abilities too. Track driving i completely different to road driving, even rallying is although held on road stages, is different to normal road driving as you know that nobody should be coming the other way so risks can be taken with speed and cornering.

I'm learning to drive after 15 years when I first had lessons.
I'm almost 39 years old and at about 35 hours in now and as I live in the UK I'm driving a manual transmission. I've had three different instructors (had bad experiences with two) until finally settling with one I'm comfortable with. He's the world driving guy (YouTube) who is very good, encouraging and patient. My first instructor talked way too much and didn't let me drive enough. The second guy let me drive for the entire time but instruction was poor, too laid back and half the time he was texting on his phone (which I hear is illegal!).

Anyway, even so I feel I'm still not at the level I should be at this point and I can't help but feel embarrassed about it. Passed my theory at least but still making too many serious mistakes out on the road with my instructor having to intervene still.
Perhaps it's because I've had to go through these three different instructors. I tend to get annoyed if I make a mistake or two and then it snowballs into a multitude of errors, some serious.

I'm not sure I could even do a mock test as there'll be too many faults.

It is frustrating as I do look forward to each lesson and I do like driving which is why I think I'm upset I'm not doing better.

what happens if u fail to know the show and tell (question they ask on your driving test in the car such as can you tell me how to change the oil etc) would you fail the test i.e a serious fault or just a minor?

Hi,
Please could you make a small Video on turning right at traffic lights.

The problem I'm having is that I live in a small town so when we are turning right at traffic lights there is only 1 lane.

This is my weakness.

Most the videos I've seen show the ones with multiple lanes at traffic lights.

Thank you 😊
