The Zero-COVID strategy is Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s brainchild that has become public resentment number one in China. While the rest of the world has treated COVID like the flu, the Chinese are still subject to extensive COVID testing and lockdowns. China’s economy is in the dump, but there is no sign that Beijing authorities will soon relax. Why is Xi so stubborn about Zero-COVID? The answer is that he wants to be politically correct.

I was in China for years until July 2022, And i am so happy that i got out of China, The Zero Covid Policy was so troublesome and so tiring! Lockdown, Open, Lockdown again🙈 Keeps on testing🙈Small businesses are already shutdown 🙈 Goodluck to all my foreign friends and local friends🙈 I enjoyed being in China but this policy is crazy! It’s too much!

I lean towards thinking that it's more a matter of the party just never being able to admit when it's wrong myself...but I must admit, thinking about the 'utility' in using as an excuse for sealing off borders and to practice rationing, internment/quarantine, tracking, control of movement, &c. literally keeps me up at night sometimes.

I have visited China 3 times, first day in Beijing I observed Chinese think as one mind, fear their government and don't really care for much other than money, "not my problem" was a often heard refrain.
Generational scars left over from Mao's time in power. Still peasants left over from majority living on farms until China is brought into modern world by Nixon, peasants move into cities to find work and buy apartments and cars, even get educated but, still can think for themselves and thus still peasants living in fear. China is doomed for a long time sorry to say.

I always love your juxtapositions of the CCP approaches compared to ancient Chinese traditions and sayings. That alone is worth the time spent watching your show. Chinese traditions go much further back than CCP approaches to trying to rule the Chinese people and I would bet on the civility of the Chinese people to win the day eventually. They deserve to be free of autocratic dictator rule. They are not slaves to one party's doctrine.

Amazingly It's exactly the same situation as Iranian leadership. But in Iran we are opposing government very publicly. And many people wish they had at least a same level of life or hope for future as Chinese!!!! It's really sad
