One question. ! Does DMR digital radio work when internet shuts down on earth.
If i buy couple of DMR radio can i Encrypt those sort of speak privacy. And when internet shuts down in the world. It will still work.
Thats my bigg question for preppers.?!

If anybody has an RT72 and has figured out how to upload a code plug, (not build a code plug but upload one such as those offered by Retevis) please post how it is done? When you loaded contacts did you have to use the LContact Radio program? When you open CPS does it make you read the radio before you can work any files? These are the issues I am having and no one has done a real video on the weird workings of programing this radio from code plugs or on line help. Additionally it seems there is a relationship between the RT72 and Ailunce HD1 but the software is very different, and the RT72 software is different than the RT82 or RT3? Or am I imagining this?

Hi I just got the RT72 Radio today and downloaded the Driver and Software. Can't seem to install it yet. Do I use the 2 Prong Cable or do I need to buy the small USB on the right bottom? Thanks Michael.

Sorry, a lot of questions, would this work for marine VHF bands and weather? I would like to be able to see my crew location when they go ashore, or about in the dinghy, could one send and receive GPS coordinates from another passively with a similarly radio, ping anothers location to check on status. Ideally I could get this somehow plugged into my B&G Vulcan chartplotter and receive and display their location via my NMEA2000 network. What is the range for this radio? This radio can repeat broadcasts from other radios to provide a radio mesh? I started looking at a replacement handheld VHF mobile radio, but now, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm thinking that with digital technology I can have an encrypted conversation, far more efficiently, then what a typical VHF radio would provide.

So the elephant in the room on this radio that I haven't seen addressed anywhere is how it competes and is differentiated from it's stable mates the RT3S, RT82. They are within a few bucks of each other, so deciding which is the best bang for the buck is hard to do.

Hi, I just got the RT72 radio today (2022) but not sure how to install the programs I've downloaded. Are you using the 2 prong cable or do i have to purchase the lover USB slot? Thanks Michael.

Just fyi my RT52s if you unlock them with the code you can set the frequency from 136-260 and 400-480mhz. It probably also works on that one :)

I couldn't program it totally via keypad. Mine came to me from Amazon with only two zones and 25 channels. Gps was not in the radio unless you have to activate it using a pc. The manual leaves a lot to be desired. Retevis advertising is very disingenuous

Retevis makes decent radios.. However they need to pay more attention to the needs of serious radio users i.e. they don't offer replacement/extra batteries for all of their HTs. Nor do they always provide accurate descriptions of their products. I just ordered this same radio yesterday and asked about the extra batteries and they replied none were available ? I'm sure I'm not the only user who has these sentiments
