if you actually pay attention to the show (not saying you didn't) Asuka actually hits on shinji a bunch of times, 1. She gave shinji attention in school 2. She wanted shinji to get his sheet back 3. She was showing off her body to shinji in the pool scene 4. She KISSED shinji 5. everything went dowhhill after that. It's all there but it's so easy to miss out on.

The thing is many people won't listen to the message asuka is conveying here to shinji. It's true, you can't run away from situations, problems, people, if you want to be happy it's your responsibility to be happy not others'. That the message this show was giving us all along
