A wise person in my life told me “dont ‘should’ yourself”. Any time you say the word ‘should’, question it. You are a grown person. There’s nothing you should do other than what you want.

Yea this made me realize how much of my anxiety is because I just want attention and only get it when I’m anxious.

I just bought a house by myself. I didn’t want to wait to find someone, get married and then buy a house. I’ve always wanted a house and I finally made the decision to get it. It’s gonna be a lot of adjustment and tighter budgets but I’m willing to make it work.

4:32 taking accountability for the pain others have given you can be even more painful, but it’s the only way to lead a life on your own terms or risk being a prisoner to someone else’s actions your entire life

Perfect video for me today because I applied to a job that's over an hour drive away. I don't like driving and I don't like commuting but the job is so perfect I could not pass up the opportunity to apply. I know I'll make an excellent candidate.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

At the core of most fear is perfectionism.

Man those videos always come in the right time. I have definitely noticed that whenever I try to minimize or run away from pain whether physical or emotional, I always end up feeling much worse in the long run, I start feeling other emotions much less, and end up feeling empty and more depressed than before, so I started trying to embrace the pain since the first strategy didn't work, and man it has enriched my life so much, now I realize how important pain is in the human experience to be happy on deeper levels, as I believe that pain to some degree is necessary to feel more fulfilled. this is the same Idea as the acceptance part from acceptance and commitment therapy where the proposed cause of mental health problems is experiential avoidance where you try to run away from painful and unwanted thoughts and emotions which leads to you closing in on yourself and losing the richness of your life.

great timing! really need help with ocd issues lately.

reminds me of the idea that the goal is to not be less afraid, it's to become more brave.

Whole video was great and loved all the ideas, but I especially like the distinction made between responsibility and fault. Responsibility as a present action where we choose to not make the same mistakes as before, whereas fault is blaming our current circumstances on the past, taking away our power. Love it. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this one, it's very motivational for me where I am right now. I've recently had to confront a very difficult situation in my social life, and it was really scary starting a conversation not knowing if I would still be friends with this person in the next 20 minutes. It's not all sunshine and rainbows right now but this was a good reminder that I'll be able to handle it. Between you and a couple other psychology channels out there, I've learned countless invaluable lessons that are really improving my life in meaningful ways.

The idea of pay off from fears and anxiety is really interesting. Getting that comfort and false affirmation from people is really something we need to be careful of. Do you think that extends to other areas such as people falling back on video games, drugs, prn, and social media? These coping mechanisms pays off in dopamine which is why we subconsciously let our selves feel anxious. Just an observation since when I’m not anxious my use of social media and video games decrease.
