I don't know if maybe there was a running change during manufacturing and I got a later one or something, but I don't think the tail was meant to be able to come back off, at least on mine it wasn't. I just took mine off based on this video because I'm moving and it won't fit in any box I have with the tail connected. I was able to get it off but it required some force and the plastic tab that keeps it "locked in" has significant stress marks. I don't think I'd attempt taking it back off too many more times out of fear of breaking the lock tab. It didn't come off nearly as easily as it looks to have in this video.
