I don't understand why people talk about communism or socialism in Argentina when the country has never had a Marxist government. Throughout its history, Argentine governments have implemented various capitalist theories such as monetarism (Friedman) or Keynesianism, but essentially a mix of different theories. Additionally, there have been dictatorships in the country until 1983.

The main issue facing Argentina is its massive debt, which originated in 1982 and escalated significantly in 2018 under the current Finance Minister (Caputo), who left the government with the country in default. Consequently, President Macri sought assistance from the IMF and obtained a loan of $57 billion USD, along with other similar loans from the market.

Resolving this is the primary challenge that needs to be addressed.

Argentina have no option other than to make radical changes. From a very rich country to a basket case with socialist ideas - of course it will be painful to reform that mismanaged economy.

Mikhail Gorbachev tried this formula, it failed disastrously. Argentina's problems of such magnitude was accumulated over a few generations and it will similarly take generations to fix. It needs austerity and staying the course for the long term. Not sure if the Milei government can be in power long enough to do this.

Draws the attention a psychiatric president of my country. Based on historical and economic false data, he applied the perimida Austrian School theory  (Menger- Hayek) and proposed the objective of zero fiscal deficit that will starve many when the solution is a quality public spending and a development and inclusion plan. In fact, the face of the crisis is speedy worsened in more than two months with Milei president.
