Where I'm from, they can't legally call it a bedroom if it doesn't have a window egress. If somebody is living/sleeping in there they have to have to have a way to get out in case of a fire. That would have to be listed as an office or something.

I'll tell you how - above garage is built as a "bonus room" for model homes, so it was upgraded to a bedroom and they "forgot" to replace the window..

My new house doesn't have any windows, too much air leakage and heat loss. Therefore, I bought 20 flat screen TV'S and put them on the interior walls where windows would be and connected them to cameras. You just turn it on when you want to see outside. It's awsome....

Some offices have closets. That's where I put all my paperwork and documents, etc etc. Maybe it's an office. And the builder doesn't go around checking houses, their PM's do. Good find, but depending how many other rooms qualify for a bedroom, this may be just another liveable space with a closet.

It's right. Egress wasn't an issue when built. So unless remodeled it's not a requirement
