Remove and Reinstall Valve Spring in Less than 2 Minutes! NO SPECIAL TOOLS

This video shows how to install and reinstall valve springs on a Subaru Wrx EJ205 cylinder head. This method is quick, simple, and can be used on many other cylinder heads.

Removing the retainer keepers requires: vice grips, a spark plug socket, and a pen magnet.

Reinstalling the retainer keepers requires: 4x folded piece of plastic, spark plug socket, vice grips.

I found this method on Youtube. Thanks Youtubers! I am reposting to make this technique more visible and to show how quick it is. Hopefully it can help you!

This is my other valve spring / keeper tool:

Unbelievable! First try after many horrible hours of failure. I used two layers of duct tape stuck face to face. Seriously, first try after hundreds of other attempts with my own tool. Amazing. Thanks you.

Had to change a valve on my wife's 05 kia sedona. My wife was like, "How long is that gonna take?" I said, "Probably all day, its not an easy job."

She took the kids to the beach.
Using your little trick, I had the job done from start to finish in just under 2 hours and now she's running like brand new! With all the extra time I had left I got to take a nice long nap afterwards!

Oh and I returned the expensive tool I bought too. I never even opened it lol. Think I'll use the money to buy some beer. I'll be drinking them in your honor! Cheers bro!

Man some people are just straight up brilliant and people like this make Youtube resourceful, educational, time and money saving, hair loss preventitive and whatnot. The tool for this is $50 + plus waiting for the shit to come via pigeon, shop time cost is $600 plus all together this dude saves you about a grand money that can be used to order 5 hot escorts. I wouldn't actually know, er... a buddy of mine did the cost comparison.

For anyone who wants to do this trick without removing the head you can feed a few feet of small rope through the spark plug hole and then turn the crank till the piston is hits the rope. This will hold the valve in place. Then when your done just pull the rope back out.

HOLY SHNYKEE!! This one really works folks!...I liked your no gabbing, just business policy too...went to bed depressed after wrestling a valve seal job without success...ran into this and went out to the garage (at midnight) and...Bingo!..Got'er done, then and there!

Absolutely brilliant. I've gone a bit more ape and just tap the socket wrench with a mullet. Works flawlessly and there's no need to press down. Tons of thanks!
