The fact that he had a yellow first and third sector, had a closed DRS wing, had upshift issues, still improved his lap AND got pole from a maxed-out Lewis Hamilton, shows how truly amazing this lap, and Max himself, is.

Turn 3 is probably my favourite corner in F1 now. How it dips into the circular banking, and then crests up again. And Max takes it with aggression and 110% commitment.

Verstappen used to be alright on Saturday, and great on Sunday. When he had to battle Ricciardo at Red Bull something triggered him to work on his qualifying pace. Over the years he grew into a very well-rounded driver. Getting 7 poles in one year when you're racing against the great Lewis Hamilton in the mighty Mercedes isn't easy. If the car can do it, Verstappen will win everything there is to win.

Tbh, I'm not a fan of max but this made me happy, he's on pole at his home gp, outstanding, hope everything goes well on Sunday
