Your mystery plug goes to stock subwoofer in the back. Alot of people replace the stock woofer due to lack of bass.

i had many dealings with this auto trunk on german cars
Only way to actually get the boot to close is to make sure all the trims are there,
There is a safety like latch that tells it something is in the way

the boot close button, try holding it for a few seconds and it should make an audible beep noise when it basic sets the top point, if this doesn't work it will possibly need new motors, plus make sure all latch trims are there, thumbs up so he can see

Try pushing and holding the button to close the rear hatch, after a few seconds the indicators should flash, indicating that it should now be ”calibrated”. If that doesn’t fix it there might be a mechanical problem.

Why should you pay anything to return the wrong part to Germany?? It was their mistake. They should send you the correct part and if they want the wrong part back then they should send you a prepaid shipping label.

The problem with the back could be very simple. I had the same problem with my Porsche Panamera, with is the same technology. The car programmed its self as closed (although it’s open). So it can’t open, because it is already open, but can’t close either, because it thinks that it is closed. The solution is to gently close it by hand and it will calibrate the new position

Samcrac, the hatch may be open due to your airbag sensor.
Also, rotate your exhaust couplers 90deg., if you bottom out your car you don't want those bolts hanging down.

I found this on a website. Maybe this is the problem? "The one thing I stress to clients is that you have to OWN your car. One problem I found at Audi is that there is a valet mode button in the glove compartment of the new A7 and when its depressed the trunk will not open from the door switch, the fob or the tailgate button. it’s covered in the owners manual and you won’t believe how many clients come in stating their trunk won’t open."

Sam, try and get hold of ETKA 8.0 software. It will help you a lot with the part numbers you need for this car. ETKA is the electronics part diagram that VAG uses for their part diagrams and part numbers etc. It will save you a lot of time sourcing the parts you need to efficiently finish this build. I can help out with part numbers if you need them as I have the software and use it regularly on my cars. Good luck
