Have you heard of China's 'Stubborn Nail'?

The 'Nail House' story in China is a powerful reminder that resistance can change the course of events. Wu Ping, a 49-year-old woman, refused to give in to the pressure from developers who wanted to demolish her home.

Surrounded by a massive construction site, her house became a symbol of perseverance and property rights in the country. Even without electricity or water, Wu and her family stood their ground for three years, until they finally reached an agreement. The fight of one person can inspire a nation.

Girl acted resilient and sold her home for 10x more than the neighbors. Finally pain paid

You only forgot to say she end up settling for over 20 million along with a brand new apartment. About 10 times what her home was worth enough to buy land and rebuild a similar size home about 8-9 times.

She settled for a Wu' Ping amount.

The stubborn ones will be paid millions for standing their ground. No choice for the developers with the projects underway.

“A Single act of resistance can echo through generations”

That’s a nice thought if you hadn’t just told us this one only echoed for all of 3 years before ending in concession.

Must have law abiding people and authorities who are respectful of individual's rights too.

In America, they could never offer or pay anyone that much.
They’ll find a way to ruin your daily life, day and night.

She owned her house and now lives in an apartment.

It's not resistance...it's a kind of bargaining....

A pig farmer in N. Las Vegas, Nevada did the exact same thing until he was rightfully compensated for the ground the Farm was on that he purchased in 1961 before any development was near him. He sold in 2015 for an undisclosed amount after the city had surrounded his property with housing. His name is Bob Combs of RC Farms. This lady in China and him have same grit and determination!

Wait, so we’re supposed to be proud of her because she didn’t give in but then she did? So this is basically just the story of greed.:..

Love to see people standing up to govt but am not sure how noble a case this is. Need to hear from her family :)

I'm so proud of her! If everyone stood their ground for what is right and just, we wouldn't have so many criminals in government and running countries into the ground.

It would be cool if the developer kept it and made it a cohesive feature. Then I would give it to the women's greatest nemesis.

She was given an offer that "she couldn't resist".

You have no property rights in China. Homes are on a 99 year lease.

Well, she caved in, didn't she? Which tells us that the initial offer wasn't good enough for her. She was given an offer she couldn't refuse. So, she grabbed the bag and vacated. The question is, was this an act of resistance or negotiations?

I think it's greed more than just honorable defiance.
