How to pick a skeleton key lock

A demonstration of how to pick a skeleton key lock should you be locked out of a room in your house. Not to be used illegally.

Single lever locks are just intended as home interior privacy locks (on a bedroom door, for example). If you have a bit ("skeleton") key lock on an exterior or an old hotel room door, It will have multiple levers. Those are not only a bear to "pick", they're labor intensive to make keys for!

Thanks! I'm locked out of my bookshelf. I'll give this a try tomorrow. The small white lines in your nails indicate a zinc deficiency. Just fyi. Zinc is pretty important so maybe consider a supplement

You don't even have to pick this kind of lock, just get a set of like 10 keys and one will fit, in Europe we have like 10-15 numbers of keys and in general what keeps the key from not working with the lock is the shape of the keyhole not allowing it to enter, if you dent it with a screwdriver you can use any key as long it passes in.
