When I first visited Zipolite about 35 years ago Shambala was the only actual "Hotel" on the beach,
the rest of the accommodation were little huts on the beach that cost $5 a night and stretch's of open space.
Now that was really a Paradise!

I spent a few months there back in 2011. Crazy to see how many people are on Playa del Armor in your video. There were probably only 5-10 people there any of the times we walked over there from the main Zipolite beach. I guess the place has really grown in popularity in the last decade. I guess that's a good thing... but I enjoyed how "secret" the place felt while I was there. Thanks for the video!

Mazunte, Zipolite, and Puerto Angel in the state of Oaxaca are not overrun by tourists like the country's more famous beaches, so they are great places to have a more local experience while enjoying the sand and surf. Mazunte and Zipolite are known for their laid-back attitude and hippie spirit.

What a great place to be! great weather! Great beaches! Great people! Great surroundings! Great entertainment! Very good food! Very good prices! Not too crowded! No big international and expensive hotels around stealing your money! A whole world apart! and yet at the same time: so close to México City! so close to Acapulco! So close to Oaxaca! and so close to the USA!... This is really close to be a great hiden paradise!... No wonder that the closest town to this place is very well named: "Puerto Escondido" which means: "hiden port"!
