We get a chance to visit Tianfu square, try out the Metro and eat like a local in Chengdu, China.

We also experienced our first scam in China, it's usually very safe and without crime so this was a first time.

Check out how we got on!

We are Pat & Giulia, a couple from 🇬🇧 and 🇮🇹 living in London.

We decided to go travelling and ended up living getting stuck in Malaysia during 2020 which spurred the creation of this channel, we're now back on the road after a lengthy hiatus!

We're travel enthusiasts who enjoy discovering spots off the tourist trail and don’t like taking ourselves too seriously. We're not here to be vloggers or to be famous, we're not necessarily here to "inspire" anyone to travel either - just enjoy the spontaneous fun of it, weird situations and of course making local friends.

This gentleman should definitely become a food blogger. Your expressive facial reactions make the audience feel just how delicious the food is!🤣🤣🤣

Some vegetarian restaurants use soy products to achieve the taste and texture of meat. A famous snack is called vegetarian beef with mushrooms.

I am from Chengdu, and there are some people wearing monk or lama clothes and asking for money. In China, "begging" is a "profession". They are not homeless. They earn more than me every day. So when you see these people, don’t give them money. We have a saying called "You have hands and feet, why not create wealth yourself"

Having different temperatures in different sections of the train is so innovative and environmentally conscious. Haven’t seen this anywhere in the world.

This metro station is the best in Chengdu. There are a plenty of beautiful stations in Chengdu. The city has the best metro system in China. Also, you can visit the InterContinental Chengdu Global Center, which is a mall, has hotels, parks, a beach, a zoo, and numerous restaurants. The Panda Center is also a good resort for visit. Enjoy....

The monk trick is an old trick here.
Monks are highly respected here in China and people often go to temple to pray for their well-beings. When you see a monk you automatically think he's a good guy. So when these fake monks ask you for help, the mindset you have is always like "What if he's a real one? It's only 20 yuan. I don't wanna leave a nice person hopeless."
Your mind changed after you saw this happened 2 or three times. But they can always find a new victim with a good heart.

Had to laugh at 11:18 when you explained how people didn’t always understand your pronunciation. I’m going to be learning Mandarin next year, and apparently the ‘tone’ you use to pronounce words is *really* important, as just very slight nuances in your pronunciation of a single word can give it a variety of different meanings. If I remember correctly, I think there are 4 types of ‘tones’ and then as many ‘sub-tones’. And to top it all, in the different regions and cities of China, the locals will pronounce the same word somewhat differently due to the difference of their local dialects from one city to the next !😅😢

In China, you don't say 'Hao Chi' before you eat the food from a shop or restaurant generally. That could be the reason sometimes you got those unusal/funny looks from people if you just passed by their shops, did not eat anything there but said 'Hao Chi'. Not because of the way you pronunced the words. The business owners might think how you knew the food here delicious if you had not eaten yet.
