Cyberspace as an Operational Domain - CyCon 2018
Показать описание
The NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) organised its 10th International Conference on Cyber Conflict (CyCon 2018) in Tallinn, on the theme of maximising effects in the cyber domain.
NATO and many countries around the globe have recognised cyberspace as a ‘Domain of Operations’. This shift in policy means that militaries will need to adapt by developing concepts of cyber operations within an evolving digital battlefield. This session addresses some key issues, including the topography of cyberspace from an operational perspective, the mapping of offensive network operations and how the re-weaponisation of malicious code may affect military planning.
Presentations:
1. The Topography of Cyberspace and Its Consequences for Operations, Mr. Brad Bigelow, Principal Technical Advisor, SHAPE DCOS CIS and Cyber Defence (CCD)
2. Targeting Technology: Mapping Military Offensive Network Operations, Mr. Daniel Moore, PhD Candidate, Department of War Studies, King's College, London
3. Aladdin’s Lamp: The Theft and Re-weaponization of Malicious Code, Mr. Kārlis Podiņš, Threat Analyst, CERT.LV and Dr. Kenneth Geers, Senior Research Scientist, Comodo
Moderator: Dr. Michael Sulmeyer, Director, Cyber Security Project, Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center
**Note that some presentations were submitted and created in a personal capacity and are not necessarily affiliated with, nor representative of, the views of the speakers’ respective organisations**
The CCDCOE is a NATO-accredited cyber defence hub focusing on research, training and exercises. The international military organisation based in Estonia currently includes 21 nations providing a 360-degree look at cyber defence, with expertise in the areas of technology, strategy, operations and law.
