While there really is no reason why the Elves arrest the Dwarves in the Jackson movies, there were actually several reasons in the book: Thorin and company had entered the Elven kingdom unannounced and uninvited; they raided the Elves' feast in the woods, three times; they had attracted the Spiders with all their racket; and after all that, they refused to even tell Thranduil what had brought them into the forest in the first place. Thranduil planned to hold them in jail until they answered his questions.

Radagast was mentioned in the book but he didn’t appear at all. Azog the Defiler was also mentioned in the beginning of the book. Gandalf was telling Thorin on how Azog had killed his grandfather in the mines of Moria.

It's arguable, however, that Azog was in the book because Gandalf said how Thorin's grandfather was killed by Azog in the mines of Moria in the first chapter

This is so overwhelmingly good. I genuinely got more of an authentic Tolkien vibe from this than whatever the hell those 3 movies were supposed to be.
