Big thanks to Adam for lending in his 6309-8020 Seiko from 1981, nearly NOS. This cost $59.99 in 1981 that would be $169.33 in 2019 today. So this wasn’t a cheap watch then, but it was a good watch for sure.

Nice to see that Seiko bracelets haven't changed over the years.

I inherited my dads Seiko 7005 8022 from 74, Automatic, Blue face. My father only wore it for a few months so mine is next to new as well. I had it resized and I wear it daily.

Looks really close to the SNXS73K1 I got a 2ish months ago for like $100 on ebay. If you like the design you can totally get one that looks 98% the same right now.

Or if you don't like the colour you can get the same design in a different colour. I enjoy this watch so much, i got it in dark grey sunbrust and a blue sunburst version as well.

From what I can find out, 60USD in 1981 is about 170USD now. What a find, nice watch.

For me- a teenager in 1981- a watch like this defines Seiko.

That is an awesome watch! Thank you for sharing it with us Adam. Rob if you still have you OP, it would be really interesting to see this watch and your OP side by side. I love the idea of NOS...but I would have no idea how to value it. This one looks fantastic and I would think it is worth much more than $169.33. Thank you for another great video Rob :)

The serial number shows this was manufactured in May 1979. Looks very similar to a modern Seiko 5 SNKE83.

The old paperwork really makes it stand apart from other watches.

Watch is 3 years to young. 1984 would have been perfect. Great find and lovely piece.

I love older Seikos. I have several in the 6139 series, plus some Seiko quartz from the 80s. Timeless designs. There is currently only one model of this watch like this on eBay, but different color combo. Listed at $330usd Buy It Now. If that helps.

60.00 in 1981 is about 167 today with inflation

I had a 6309-7049 divers watch that I bought in 1986 while serving in the United States Navy. I paid $99.00 fir it at the Navy Exchange and wore it every where around the world, above the water and under the water.

Hi Rob, this video made me dig up a true NOS Seiko 7009 watch that looks very similar to the one you have here. My Dad gave to me a year ago or so. He found it in a drawer and forgot he had bought it from all those years ago. It literally has the original plastic wrap on the clasp, the hang tag with the string, and even a caseback sticker still in place. Cheers! Thanks, Rich

I love the stick hands and markers, I wish Seiko would come out with dials like this for some of their mid-to-upper tier divers. Not a big fan of arrows for hour/minute hands and funky looking circular markers.

Very cool review. The paperwork with the watch is a great time capsule. Hopefully this watch will continue its journey like this.
