Arduino Data Types, Literals, and Variables | Adventures in Science

This week in Adventures in Science, we examine the various data types in Arduino and how to use literals and variables. While there are only 3 fundamental data types in C, Arduino supports many more. You can also extend various data types by adding keywords like "long" to create a "long int" that uses 4 bytes (instead of 2 in most systems).

I can't even begin to explain how helpful these are, keep up the good work.

Learning how to use Open SCAD helps one to understand how to use Arduino code. Wish I found this video when it came out.

This whole series is amazing. Every other video I have seen assumes some knowledge that I didn't have, and was therefore very frustrating.

Interesting... 42 is the Multiplication sign, maybe the meaning of life is to multiply?

You used Avogadro's number for your float example! Nice! B-) These tutorials are really useful. Thank you!

One of the best programming tutorials for beginners, Shawn! Why? To quote you: "Finally, we have the 'character-type', which is a one-byte integer that corresponds to an English letter, number, or symbol. In _C_ the character-type is abbreviated to its first four letters and is often pronounced _kaehr_ or _tchaahr_." Excellent composition!

There is a small error in the Arduino Data Types table. The range for char should be from -128 to 127.

Excellent - best coverage of what arduino programing actually means which is often just assumed to be known/understood by many other presenters - which has the absolute consequence of leaving us "newbys" totally in the dark!!! Looking forward to your next coding coverage video. FYI - have subscribed to your "channel" as well! Keep up the really great clearly presented videos and cheers from DownUnder!
