He was such a smart pitcher. Not overpowering but with incredible control and movement.

Never a Braves fan, but he was one of the best of this era.

We live in an amazing era. 50 tips like this you could get in a few days or weeks would have taken you a lifetime when I was a kid. And I'm not quite 40

And that’s the difference between great and all-time legends right there.

His lessons are applicable 100% to just about every avenue in life, especially business. Think like the other side of the table. Thank you Mr. Maddux.

Larry Bird of baseball pitchers. Smart, not an overpowering fastball but pin point accuracy, great set up pitches, masterful with three breaking/ off speed pitches. Like a great artist at work.

He had serious movement on his pitches, tlto a point to where balls were fading back over the back corners of the plate

Every batter has a set of characteristics that makes him unique. Depending on where you stand in the batter's box I might use your waist bone or your belt as a point of reference when throwing you a curve ball. I often made batter's back out of the batters box on curves because they were crowding the plate. I never ever considered beaning a batter but I often used their bodies as a point of reference.

He & Gooden arrived around the same time. Only this guy dominated for years.

Dude looks like a full time office worker and part time little lesgue coach...in reality one of the greatest pitchers ever. Amd i absolutely hated him when he was playing. And the braves. But damn those were some good teams

I heard him speaking something about throwing a bait pitch to a batter at the beginning of a regular season, allow him to hit a home run, then don’t throw the same pitch during the playoff series

Pitch tunneling has been around forever. When i was in college in the late 90’s you were either sinker/slider or tall and fall high fastball/12-6. If you threw a sinker, you threw a circle change. If you threw straight 4seam, you threw straight 4seam change/bp fastball. The split was considered a “veterans pitch” and could only be thrown by guys who commanded at least 2 pitches. This was Jim Gilligan, Howie Gershberg stuff. And even Tom House to a degree.

Mad Dog might have been one of the top 3 pitchers ever to play the game.

Hardest pitcher ever to predict what the next pitch was, for me. Even looking at where the catcher set up, still impossible.

maddux, unit and Pedro.. the 90s was the greatest decade in baseball history with maybe the 1920s.
