Is it time to say goodbye like its time to sub?

Wake me up when any manufactorer start offering full package (base+wheel, 3 pedals, shifter) at around 350$. Until then Logitech will firmly hold the entry level.

The biggest problem in my opinion is seeing these prices change around the world considerably as well. Maybe in the US/EU $100 isn't too big of a difference for a DD, but when you start selling these wheels in countries like India or Brazil they sometimes can be 2x to 4x more expensive than the Logitech and Thrustmaster wheels, making that "small jump of quality" unjustifiable imo. This I think has do with market availability in other countries; while sim companies keep forcing people to use their countries import system instead of buying it locally, I don't believe we'll ever see Moza or Fanatec replace these wheels simply because the supply and availability isn't there in a global sense like Logitech and Thrustmaster is. I think the landscape is changing a bit in the US, but I doubt we'll be leaving belt driven wheels any time soon overall because that's what most people have access to (regardless of price).

My G25 just got retired after nearly 15 years of service and it still looks and functions like new. Incredible build quality.

Once more DD wheelbases come with console support, they will really put an end to the entry level gear and belt driven wheelbases. That is all I am waiting for to finally move on from my Thrustmaster T300 wheelbase.

I think there is an important point missed here. You can use these low-powered wheels and non LC pedals on desks. Not everyone have a space for a proper metal rig or a wheelmount.

The market could really benefit from a decent wheel and pedal set in the 100-150 price range

I would hang on to your logitech equipment as a backup. I bought a Fanatec bundle and it literally went up in smoke after a month. While they are honoring the warranty, I had to send the wheel base back and it took a month for me to receive the replacement. And now the pedals don't work with the new wheel base so I have to send them back too. Thankfully I didn't sell my Logitech gear.

I have owned g25, g27 and g29, then I decided to buy a t300 and man it was night and day, specially with the t-lcm pedals. Nice video mate! Parabéns

I think most of the gear and belt drive wheels won't disappear at least in 4 or 5 years here in Latin America for some reasons.
The first is that brands like Fanatec doesn't sell their products here so is difficult to find a reseller with decent prices (the CSL DD 5nm here in Mexico is around 500USD and with boost kit 820USD with a reseller I found).
On amazon and stores like that doesn't sell direct drive wheels, only gear and belt drive wheels like Logitech G920, Thrusmaster TSXW (700USD)

Loved my logitech g29 and pedals, upgraded the brake for couple bucks . Easy instal and great over all package. I'm now on dd pro 8 nm fanatec with load cell . What an amazing difference. But I'll always remember my first g29 logitech. What a great affordable entry lvl wheel and pedal set up

Agreed, Logitech and thrustmaster been slowly sleeping on spoils of good times. T- GT2 Is 750 plus a SF steering wheel and load cells pedal, almost for the same price you get the moza r12 with all top ecosystem.

Better, more powerful DD bases at cheaper prices are of course a very good thing overall. Except for one glaring exception. They still…for all practical purposes…need a rig, right? What if you can afford an R12, R9 CSL DD, Alpha Mini, etc… but literally don’t have space for a rig? The only real alternatives for “desk racers” are still going to be G29, T300, right?

I know this sounds whiny, but seriously, nearly all the discussions of the current generation “affordable“ DD wheels seem to ignore rigs or assume someone already has one.

it is about time. we're approaching the point where its cheaper to build a dd wheel than it is to faff about with gears or belts.i love my g29 and it will be my backup wheel for as long as it works, plus its nice and easy to transport and attatch to a random desk :)

In most countries, simracing gear is very expensive, most DD wheels bases are more expensive than the G29 base w/ wheel, pedals and shifter.

I'm on the Cammus 15NM base and LC100 loadcell pedals now and I've been loving the switch from my Thrustmaster TMX Pro. After being into Sim racing for a few years it felt like time to make the change to a more serious setup now upgraded my PC, built a full chassis and working on a belt tensioner and getting some bass shakers to add to my rig to finish everything up and then I'll be in Sim heaven. I lost my license a few years ago due to a medical condition and sim racing has filled the void from not being able to have project cars and go out cruising back roads anymore.

My G25 I got for Grand Prix Legends is somehow still working. Sounds like an old man rolling out of bed.

I had a G29 as my wheel from February 2021 - October 2022 and I loved it. Granted it did not have anything like the fidelity of my R9 but it did the job of getting me into sim racing, was affordable, and very very easy to use.

Logitech might be ok if they drop the price of the G923 to the level of the G29 as the price, their ability to be table mounted, and name recognition will enable them to sell to the very very budget conscious (students, parents of kids who want a wheel). Thrustmaster though....
