When we express our thanks and admiration to ‘everyone involved’ with the harbour lights we really mean just STUART and DAN NOALL. These take about 5 mornings/30 hours to set up and there is also occasional maintenance during the 8 weeks they are on - Stuart and Dan come over from Hayle to troubleshoot or when something goes out. And of course there's the taking down and storing for next time.

The St Ives Fisherman's Christmas Lights began 21 years ago when harbourmaster Stephen Basset said Stuart could put a length of ropelight on Smeaton's Pier, and gradually grown to what we have now. Almost solely funded by individual donations, a couple of the major lights were also given, such as the candles on West Pier, and this year the 'Silent Night' panel on Smeaton's. St Ives Town Council makes a small annual grant to the cause but donations are always welcome, hence the fundraising page.

While not big in world harbour terms, it is still a considerable undertaking to decorate a run of about 800 yards in this way, which makes our harbour so much more attractive. Again, well done and thank you to Stuart and Dan.
