BOSS RC-500 Multiple Instrument Setup! How to Expand your Loop Station Inputs!

Today I am going to show you a technique I use all of the time to expand the inputs available on my BOSS Loop Stations. We are going to using a Mixer, to create a Sub Mix that we will send to the BOSS RC-500! This will allow you the ability to loop multiple instruments with the BOSS RC-500, and not be restricted to the Stereo Input and Microphone Connections.

Nice routing guide for guys to understand how to ROUTE. It's the first rule any Guitarist should familiarize themselves with. Good vid!

Great video, thank you so much! I actually use a similar setup with a RC-1 pedal - various instruments on a 1-track looper. I've bought a RC-500 and now I'll be able to fully explore multi-instrument looping with 2 tracks <3

I think a good old Mackie 1202 VLZPRO can also do this via ALT3-4 output at the back of the unit!!...

Another cool yet simple option would be using something like the boss line selector to plug two instruments into one input

Thank you - this is really helpful. I have a Yamaha MG10 though - wondering if this set up can be transferred to this mixer? It doesn't seem to have a Group Out output though!

Thank you. I'm having an issue trying to link my RC500 to a Behringer Flow 8. The output is monitor speakers. Trying to understand the set up as a beginner.

Hello and thank You for such good quality videos about rc 500!
May I wonder about disadvantages of next connection: mixer - rc 500 - PA Speakers
I use it like this and like to control output signal from the rc 500 and not from the mixer
Thank You!

I feel very bad The RC500 is Missing an aux input, or call line left and right inputs for connecting a mixer or a drum machine, the two inputs built in rc500 is instrument inputs, bad sound for a mixer. I test sound the different inputs on a rc3 which has an aux input, it does make big difference, I would rather have an aux inputs than the midi in out on the RC 500.

Hello Ben, thank you for your knowledge, if I intend to use the BOSS RC-500 with only a guitar and a keyboard do I need a mixer? Thank you!!!

Hello Ben.
Great video. How should I connect my Boss GT1 guitar effects and use it at the same time with RC500 and mixing console like you did on the video?
Kind regards:)

Can you just connect the outputs of the RC500 to your monitors? Might be missing something. Great vid btw.

Hi Can anyone help? I did all of the connections but none of the instruments can be heard when i play them. They are not coming out to my PA or via the loop. Do i need to do something via the looper settings? Thanks.

Cool, great video. I have been trying to work this all out for the RC10r but not much joy so far. The issue i have is getting static electrical noise loops from out inputs and outputs into the same thing. At present I outputting to my audio interface but limits the mixing abilities...Does the Yamaha have isolated inputs and outputs to avoid such static chain loops? Thanks

Greetings Ben and congrats on your awesome and entertaining videos, I recently purchased the rc 500 as my very first looper ever for the purpose of using multiple keyboards and synths on my dawless setup. You are the only one so far on youtube that shows how to use a mixing console, however mine doesnt have the group out feature. I own a Behringer UB802 eurorack. so far i can route the main outs into the rc 500's input and from the rc 500 main outs to the monitors but i have no volume control of the looper on the mixer (only the monitors) I would like to hear everything out of my headphones from the mixer. any suggestions are welcome, and please excuse my confusion and ignorance, I am your typical impulse buyer when i see cool product videos such as yours. Best Regards and keep making gold content
