LYRICS
I scraped my knees while I was praying and found a demon in my safest haven
Seems like it's getting harder to believe in anything than just to get lost in all my selfish thoughts
I wanna know what it'd be like to find perfection in my pride
To see nothing in the light
Or turn it off in all my spite
In all my spite I'll turn it off

And the worst part is before it gets any better we're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize I'm better off when I hit the bottom

The tragedy it seems unending
I'm watching everyone I looked up to breaking, bending
Taking shortcuts and false solutions just to come out the hero
Well I can see behind the curtain
The wheels are cranking turning
It's all wrong the way we're working towards a goal that's nonexistent
It's nonexistent but we just keep believing

The worst part is before it gets any better we're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize I'm better off when I hit the bottom

I wanna know what it'd be like to find perfection in my pride
To see nothing in the light
and turn it off in all my spite
In all my spite I'll turn it off
Just turn it off

Did anyone else ever have that realization that Paramore wasn't just a phase?

This song is so relatable it's not even funny.

"And the worst part is, before it gets any better we're headed for a cliff...
And in the free fall I, will realise I'm better off when I hit the bottom" <3

I'm 28 years old, and this remains, after all these years, my favorite song. I now realize what it's like to be my father jamming out to the same songs he listened to in his teens. Who we were as teens is something we'll never really lose.

the whole "re uploading their previous records" thing is making me cry. Paramore is the best.

By far one of my favorite songs they've ever written, lyrically and musically. In fact, the first 5 on this record may be their best. It's why Brand New Eyes is one of my top 3 albums of all time, from any artist.

Honestly, never would have survived middle school if it weren't for this band. Bless them.

After crying to this song as a teenager, I'm crying even harder to it as an adult. I thought I understood this song before but feeling so alone in the world lately, I feel like it just hits so much harder. I thought I was so alone as a teen, and I was. I guess this song just brings back those feelings of desperation and loneliness, on top of current feelings of desperation and loneliness. I don't know how someone could write such a true song. What is this existence even for?

Hearing Hayley's voice heals me. Idk why, but Paramore has always been my safe haven. Listening to their songs makes me want to curl up in bed and hide in my comfort zone. I mean, if the world is fcking me up badly, they're the ones I want to be with. They are my escape from everything.

Idk if I make sense here. But yeah, they saved (and still saving) me.

What a perfect song: well-written music, deep and related lyrics and Hayley Williams showing off those vocals, in the technical sense that woman knows pretty much what's she's doing

Most of the lyrics in this song have such a deep meaning. Growing up it didn't really make much sense, all I got from this song was being in a relationship that was going nowhere. It's like being alone and seeing what the world we know has or will become after losing that one person who means the world to you. I'm just happy to discover this song again.

It’s crazy how I don’t listen theses songs everyday but every time I come back to them it’s like the lyrics, the drums, Hayley’s voice are like inside my heart in an special place... gosh can’t wait to see them on concert.

I just feel so depressed when I hear this song knowing how hurt and sad Hayley felt at that time but it's still in extraordinary song ❤️

This song has what I like to call "connection" to When it rains. A song 2years before this one yet if u pair them up the connection is strong. The songs both show perspective. Turn it off is a song from the perspective of the depressed/wants to end their life. When it rains is from the perspective of a friend of the depressed/or those who already ended it

[Verse 1]
I scraped my knees while I was praying
And found a demon in my safest haven, seems like
It's getting harder to believe in anything
Than just to get lost in all my selfish thoughts

[Pre-Chorus]
I wanna know what it'd be like
To find perfection in my pride
To see nothing in the light
I'll turn it off
In all my spite
In all my spite
I'll turn it off

[Chorus]
And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

[Verse 2]
The tragedy, it seems unending
I'm watching everyone I looked up to break and bending
We're taking shortcuts and false solutions
Just to come out the hero

[Pre-Chorus]
Well, I can see behind the curtain (I can see, yeah yeah)
The wheels are cranking, turning
It's all wrong the way we're working
Towards a goal that's non existent
It's non existent, but we just keep believing

[Chorus]
And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

[Bridge]
I wanna know what it'd be like
To find perfection in my pride
To see nothing in the light
I'll turn it off
In all my spite
In all my spite
I'll turn it off
Just turn it off
Again
Again, again

[Chorus]
And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

I feel bad for people who go through high school without Paramore, My Chemical Romance and Green Day.
