When I was a child and I wanted to get gold color with color pencils, I would just mix yellow and orange 😁

For those interested:
What really differs gold from just some form of yellow is the level of almost "iridescence" in the gold due to the shadows being almost a different color.
While the main body is this sort of gold, the highlights are near white while the shadows are much closer to that initial brown color before all the yellow was added.
Then of course if it's polished, there's the colors added from its high reflectivity.
This is why it seems impossible to make a "true gold" _color_ and that they always just end up looking like Mustard or something.

Personally I'm still going to take this method to heart though. I've always had issues mixing yellows, they always seem to turn brown on me.

I think real gold pigments usually have some sort of shimmer added to the paint to make it really stand out from yellow paint

brown is excellent for rendering gold (the shadows) and a bright yellow-green (lighting) can really add some dimension. rememer, the first step of color theory is accepting that you will never understand it, and that you are at the whims of your color palettes wants and desires
