Tracking and Bonding Performance of Commonly Used Tack Coat Materials in Asphalt Pavement

Asphalt emulsion is the most widely used tack (bond) coat material in the United States. The effectiveness of this critical bonding material is significantly dependent on limiting tracking by construction traffic and on the stiffness of residue from emulsions. The main objective of this presentation is to discuss the factors that may affect the tracking performance and bond shear strength of asphalt emulsion tack coats.
