We’re pleased to deliver our behind the scenes, 'making of' video for ‘Please Mr. Postman’. A storming hit for The Marvelettes at Motown in 1961. So good, in fact, that the Beatles would cover the song less than two years later. It features on their 1963 ‘With the Beatles’ album. Here’s our take…

Lead vocals - Amelia Rendell
Guitars - Oliver Seymour Marsh
Bass - Nick Player
Piano - Jack McGaughey
Drums - Dan Graham
Backing vocals- Dan Graham, Jack McGaughey, Oliver Seymour Marsh.

Produced by Phil Andrews at Nam Studios
Video filmed and edited by Dave Mertens.

Is there a superlative that means even better than outstanding? If so, it applies!

Whenever I cover a song myself, I like to listen to others’ versions. This is definitely the best. Considering myself a Beatles “purist, ” this one might be better than theirs or the Marvelettes’. Great job!

So upbeat and so tragic. Has he ghosted her-- abandoned her, without the guts to say so? No, I think it's somehow worse than that. This is from 1961, so I think he is... was... a serviceman in Vietnam. He...isn't coming back, but as "just" the girlfriend the Army wouldn't have known to tell her. She knows, inside, what has happened, but is desperately hoping that she's wrong.

This song is not the Beatles one. Beatles covered it in a brilliant way. So, what we see here is the cover of the Beatles cover
