Welcome, my name is Phil, and in this video I discuss what Earth's Milankovitch cycles are.

Records of ice core and deep sea sediment cores show that Earth's climate has not always been the same. In fact it appears to cycle through periods of Glacial and Interglacial.

One process that could drive these is small changes to Earth's orbit, known as Milankovitch cycles. These cycles occur over 10,000 - 100,000s years due to changes in eccentricity of Earth's orbit, precession of its orbit and changes in its tilt. These cause natural fluctuations in the climate.

However, Earth is not alone and other planets and Moons also undergo similar cycles in their orbit which can also drive cyclic changes in their climate.
