Data Colonialism | Nathaniel Raymond | AI Now 2017
Показать описание
Lightning talk given at the AI Now 2017 Experts Workshop on the theme of Rights & Liberties.
In this talk, Nathaniel Raymong looks at how current uses of Artificial Intelligence are helping spawn a culture of data colonialism. Data Colonialism is when the technological solutions of the Global North are imposed to solve "other people's problems" in the Global South, often without the informed consent of the communities' whose "problems" are ostensibly the subject of the intervention. How do we define Data Colonialism and seek to address it when applying AI to the problem space of human rights, humanitarian aid, and economic development?
