Unite Here Local 5, which represents 2,700 striking hotel workers in Hawaii, and Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts will return to the bargaining table Friday and Saturday. The strike, which is now into its 15th day, began Oct. 8 when negotiations between Local 5 and Kyo-ya, which owns the Marriott-managed Sheraton Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Westin Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and Sheraton Maui, reached an impasse.

Are you serious that they should make more than a teacher? Aloha???? They blocked the driveway to my hotel. They yelled don’t check in. They blocked the sidewalks. They ruined how many weddings. They banged on drums, pans and anything they could make noise with. That is not freedom of speech. That is disorderly conduct, exceeded the noise decibels allowed by law, disturbed my peace and quiet. They didn’t ruin my stay. I hope they all get fired. Who treats the customers that ultimately pay them like that. I didn’t mind any inconvenience other than how that out of control group behaved. Im disappointed in Police allowing them to protest in this manner. They have freedom of speech. Not to block streets, crosswalks and driveways. Banging on anything to disturb the guests? I work more than 1 job. I have been a cop for 30 years.
