Rosanne Philippens (violin) & Lidy Blijdorp (cello) perform Sonata for violin and cello composed by Maurice Ravel from 1920 to 1922. He dedicated it to Claude Debussy, who had died in 1918.
(I: Allégro, II: Très vif, III: Lent, IV: Vif)
Rosanne Philippens is an extraordinary communicator, with an innate musicality and an infectiously joyful yet sincere approach to music-making. She is in high demand across the Netherlands where she performs regularly in the major halls and series both as soloist and chamber musician. She performs on the 1727 Barrere Stradivarius.
Lidy Blijdorp is a young, passionate cellist with enormous narrative power, praised for her 'breathtaking musicality'. Lidy plays the Italian cello of Anner Bijlsma, on loan from the Dutch National Musical Instrument Fund.
