Arty, I have silbeschnitts and when the bottom disc is brand new they are a dream, but it seems the point on the disc wears flat very very quickly then they are no good. Any suggestions?

Put some clean water in the score the whole length of the score. That weakens the glass inside the scratch. It will make it so you will need less force to break the glass. I am a Scientific Glassblower with over 40, 000 hours in profession.
