Can you - while out an about - select some specific destination (e.g. stored "home") and route and navigate to it?

Works great when it works, which is infrequent. Continuously forgets the pairing with my phone, with the Varia, with the D-fly on the Di2 and with the Duotrap. Still a work in progress.

Not wild about touch screen on the 820. The 520 buttons worked really well with thick gloves and when you're tired and can't finesse a touch screen (race type situation) I do like the navi features. Good iniital review Thanks!

Excellent demo and comparison! You answered almost all of my questions about these units (I currently use a damaged Edge 705 and in the market for the next big thing). One question, How does the map rendering speed compare between the 820 and the 1000?

Is it possible to take waypoints as a GPX-file from GPSIES, import them and let the 820 navigate between them? And even take a shortcut and the 820 recalculates the route to the next waypoint?

Watching this video again I would rather spend 100 more and have the new features of mapping. One of the main reasons for me to buy a Garmin is to go on new courses I've never been and stop doing the same old routes.

How does it compare with the Edge 810?
Is the extra cost for 820 worth it compared to the 810?

Does the 810 recalculate your route as well?

Hi Ray, apologies if you have covered this elsewhere, but myself and many others are experiencing serious and frustrating screen lockouts on this unit. Have you experienced that - the touch screen not responding? The latest firmware is meant to address that, but my tests are inconclusive so far. Any info/insights you have would be appreciated.

This was very helpful...particularly once you got to the comparison with the 520. I have not used any similar unit and was looking for info on the mapping. I travel a good bit in maybe 6-8 states and ride whenever the opportunity arises, so mapping and directions are of interest in unfamiliar locations. What maps are pre-loaded on the 820? And what's the procedure or how technical is getting maps into the 520? BTW, the volume on your video was a bit low to me as well, but still VERY helpful. Thanks
