I had a major annoying cowlick issue because of my extremely straight hair. So I grew my hair out until it was anywhere from 5 to 7 inches in length. Then took a 10mm drill bit to my hair stylist and told her that I wanted that size of perm curls (simply because it's more on the wavier side than the curlier side). Note: The smaller the curling "rods" are, the closer your hair will get to looking like an afro.

Major glowup. I felt like a new person. I've been getting perms done every 3 months. Im a regular at my salon so she charges like 40 bucks to so it.

Other quick method guys:
1) Wash your hair. Use old cotton tshirt to rinse them out a bit so they are damp but not dripping with water. Cotton, because a terrycloth towel loops catch, rise and damage hair scales making hairs tangle and look bad.
2) Apply small amount of "curl activator cream" on your wet, damp hair. If you want, now is the LAST time to comb your hair if you want a side part.
3) Apply small amount of medium hold hair gel. Put your head down and move your hair close and away from your head with your hands, all around your head, for 2-3 minuters, so the curls will form. After applying gel, don't comb your hair anymore.
4) Either let your hair dry naturally or use diffuser.
5) After they are dry, if the gel made your hair curls a bit stiff, you can "crush" those curls with your hands a bit, so the whole hairstyle is more loose. If it's too stiff and looking unnatural, swap gel for even lighter hold.

Here’s my advice, if u got straight ass hair try doing no shampoo or less than twice shampoo a week, my straight hair start gaining texture after doing that, it’s like I wake up and already have texture and look kinda wavy, if u want even more texture u can just apply some sea salt spray too

Heres my advice i used to have quite stiffy straight asian hair but now its 2c type hair firstly stop shampooing everyday atleast for 1 week if u naturally straight it wont work if ur not shampooing for 1 week it will show your true hair pattern afther figuring your hair is actually wavy uses salt spray my ideal salt spray is [2 cup of water boiled in salt [wait till cold], atleast 1 whole juice of lemon[for hair growth and i uses to lighten my ash ginger hair, and other benefits the cons is it get rid of oil produce by not shampooing, it kinda make your hair kinda dry as fuck so i suggest atleast using 8 teaspoon of rosemary oil then broke like 3 pile of vitamin c broke it into powder then just shake it vitamin c does tons of shit to your hair which is good and it also make it shinier] use the salt spray only once a time in 2 days spray it 5 time all across hair but especially root reember to uses it only when your hair is a bit wet so it give nice texture
