I have a 12 core Mac Pro (late 2013) fully decked out. I edit heavily in FCPX I got the six core MacBook Pro 15 inch fully decked out. Real world tests for me they both feel equivalent for what I do. Fortunately I was able to return my MacBook Pro six core and upgraded to the new decor. That should be a bump and speed for some plug-ins and exports that I do. I mostly export progress not so much H.264.

it is down to the flash drive get a new flash drive and the mac pro will kick the macbooks ass !!! take the flash drive from the macbook and instal it into the mac pro . the 4 lane pcie on the mac pro will be around read and write of 1300mb/sec the drive inside the macbook is around 3.2 gb/s !!!! that's the difference nothing to do with the processor at all it is all down to flash drive speeds !!!!

Great video man, I'm about to update my Macbook too. I'm still not convinced about the BlackMagic eGPU, I have seen some tests and cannot see much gain.

TIP: When using Touchbar for Volume or Brightness (any slider really) don't lift your finger. Just touch/hold and then slide left/right. You don't have to reposition your hand to the center of the slider. Saves a lot of time and less staring at your finger position.

Command + l (l as in look) will do the same as you brag the Touch Bar does. 🤷🏻

The super thin design also bottle necks the CPU even with stronger airflow induced by the new (but bad/longevity destroying) cooling system. Intentional breaking point as the keyboard is, I had 4x keyboard issues that could never be fixed and after only 1, 5 years of usage with regular cleaning my mainboard failed and now I'm about to pay 1000€ cause the warranty-case is just a joke and will have lost like 2000€ after I sold it. (A best hardware PC with a 200€ case costs not more than 1500€). Thanks a lot apple. I used to trust you but not anymore.

You are forgetting that you can upgrade the Mac Pro's graphics, so it's still better! And if anything breaks it's way cheaper to repair. The cooling makes the Touch Bar MBP prone to dust and failure due to that. The keyboard and Touch Bar of the new MBP's is a nightmare. But yey you can play the Witcher or other high-performance-needy games now on the go for 2hours. I am not a fan. The Touchpad makes your mouse move sometimes cause the palm rejection is not so great which is very annoying when coding and using the mouse. The new arrow keys look better but the space they used to have made you find the arrow keys blindly which is now very difficult and a workflow breaker as many little not so great things. The keyboard of all gen's will fail/give multiple returns back on one press after a while which also is not solved in the 2018 mbp's. They need to change the mechanism. The cooling is like "suck all the dust on your table and humidity in". But yes it's fast :D though longevity seems more important to me.
