PM Modi reached New York where he will address the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. PM to focus on the 'pressing global challenges', including Covid, terrorism, climate change. PM Modi flew from Washington after holding his first bilateral meeting with Joe Biden. The key meeting with the U.S. President was held in the Oval Office of the White House. PM Modi also attended his first in-person Quad summit with U.S., Australia & Japan. PM Modi, Scott Morrison, Yoshihide Suga attended the summit hosted by Biden in Washington. The PM was received by Indian envoy to US Taranjit Sandhu, India’s Permanent Representative to UN Tirumurti. About 109 heads of state & government are likely to address the general debate in-person. Nearly 60 are expected to deliver speeches through pre-recorded video statements. The Indian Prime Minister had last addressed the UN General Assembly session in 2019. Last year, world leaders had submitted pre-recorded video statements for the UNGA session in September. It was the first time in the UN's history that the high-level session had gone virtual due to Covid. PM Modi will return from his 3-day U.S. trip to India after his address to the General Assembly.
