Sony PSX

A review of the PSX, or Playstation X. Released only in Japan in 2003 by Sony, comes this Playstation 2, DVR combo. The first Console to have the XMB "XrossMediaBar" menu, we take a quick look at the console and most of it's features.

There's no overheat issues on these.

It's either the laser or the HDD going bad which kill these "bad boys".

Sony probably didn't market it well alongside horribly high price. This clearly was what Xbox One became. Only this was released in Japan and in 2003. That means it's safe to assume this was being worked on since 2000-2001 or so. So advanced for its time. Add PSN to this and it's a PlayStation version prototype of the Xbone.

Hello there :-), i know this video is old but i would just like to say thank you for taking the time to making this and show it off :-), i had no idea at all that this console existed and like you say it's a very nice looking piece of kit especially in the glacier white and the length of that cable on the pad is crazy lol. So yeah just saying thanx for showing it to me and i bet it's one of your favorite gem's amongst your console collection. Take it easy m8 :-).

The only way you can play games of all regions is to softmod the PSX via FreeMCBoot.

Imagine if sony released a "ps4x", which would be similar to the psx, except HD with a much larger HDD and ps4 game capability. I know it will never happen but it's a neat thought. In fact the only selling feature of the xbox one to me is the DVR functionality.

You can know hack this unit my using a modded var. of FMCB, you need a other PS2 to setup the files. You can also mod the XMB to English & add PSone/PS2 games to the HDD from any region. (Can be a little hard to setup)
