PoulanPRO 20" Gas Chainsaw Review available at Home Depot and Harbor Freights.

A 3 Star rating as the saw had many safety issues and kept dying on me after every cut. If Poulan can give me a call or even comment, it would be great.

Don't rev it with the chain brake on...

Obviously this guy had no clue what he was doing, Revving with the brake on and not warming it up was his first mistake then not wearing even close to proper clothing was his second. Not a trusty review I have to say

Famous last words: don't worry about the flip flops and shorts, it's just a test.

Poulan probably locked up from lack of bar and chain oil i didnt see you put any in or even mention it

You sir should take a closer look at your review, the manual and where your safety issues are coming from. Sure the PoulanPro is not the number 1 best chainsaw, but your use of any chainsaw like that is causing the safety issues. RTFM

Buy 21 spline carb adjust tool from amazon.. LOW- 2 turns out.. High- 3 turns out.. idle screw about 2.75 turns out.. this will be very close to perfect set

Some people should never buy a gas powered chainsaw!!

I have the same saw and love it. It is heavy, but it does what I need and was cheap. Take good care of it and it should last. First thing I did was regap the spark plug. That was a common issue I found in researching it. These do use a lot of bar oil too, so buy it by the gallon. Reading the manual and following it has worked great for me... Just saying. Starts and isles great from cold or hot.

Just bought the same saw for $30 from a guy that should not have owned it. It was lightly used. He left gas in it for 1 1/2 years so it would not start. Changed the carb, fuel lines and filter for $12. Its a runner now!

Maybe you should read the entire manual and then actually follow the directions. You clearly did neither. Mine runs like a champ.

Obviously the problem wasn't the chainsaw

I just bought one yesterday and I expected stalling cause of break in but it ran great and I’m happy with it

So right in any chainsaw manual you have to do a break in tank. Let idle 2 min than proceed to only cut small branches until motor is broken

After fine tuning my poulan pro I got to say it's a good saw for the money and minor home use

Hey George, just wanted to give you some tips with this saw. I recently bought this same saw. My first chain was a Poulan Pro PP4218A. I went on to buy a couple Sthil saws as I became more familiar with the machines and use them on a regular basis. I missed having my Poulan around. I love Sthil so much but missed my older Poulan After selling it to my best friend. First off, Our Poulan's have Oregon bars and chains, some of the best in the industry. A brand new chain or used dull chain, has a burr called a "gullet" between the cutters and rakers. These have to be filed slightly to make them sharp again. I would suggest a file guide, round file, raker gauge and flat file. This tools will significantly make your chain sharp and provide years of service. A bar pick you can find at your local Husqvarna dealer, as Poulan has been made with many Husqvarna components since 2006. A bar pick will get all the wood shavings and debris out of the bar and sprocket. This will make your chain sit correctly on the bar. Use premier bar and chain oil and full synthetic two stroke oil for the fuel oil mixture. 2.6 ounces of two stroke oil for every one gallon NON-ETHNOL gas. The bar has a grease fitting near the bar sprocket. One pump from a chainsaw grease gun will be sufficient, every now and than. The best advice, I can give you, is clean your saw after each use. Disengaged the chain brake, untighten the two bar nuts and remove the clutch cover. Clean all debris from the powerhead, clutch cover, bar and chain. Replace your air filter when needed. Engine degreaser works excellent for cleaning the saw components. This will get you started.

I bought the same saw from Northern Tool and it ran for 2 seconds before the clutch blew apart and locked the motor up. Never got to actually cut anything.
