100M jobs gone because of AI. What will we do?

In the next five years, 100 million jobs and up to 4 billion total worldwide will be affected by AI.

This isn't hype. This isn't a myth. It's facts – whether we're ready for it or not.

In this video, I explore what's going on with the massive job reduction we're about to face, how the growth of robotics, AI and automation will replicate human behavior (physical) and reasoning (mental) abilities, and how you can get ready.

This is the first of several videos I will film about job loss due to AI and how you can prepare.

Remember – fear and scarcity mindset remain humanity's biggest challenge, driving inaccurate thinking and patterns of greed.

Staying stuck in old mindsets, and not adapting to (this could be as simple as playing with and testing AI to start), is your biggest enemy right now.

Equip yourself with knowledge, fear nothing, and prepare for the new Age of Plentitude with AI.

Companies will keep control. I foresee a future some where between The Hunger Games and Elysium.

People think their job is safe because it doesn’t apply to AI but the people being laid off and the next generation of people are now looking to learn your job and replace you.

If GREED wasnt a thing I might agree with you. Tech oligarchs wont share.

Loss of jobs is not equivalent to lower standard of living. Previous industrial revolutions took a generation or two to implement. This one will be short, dramatic, and heated. Once it is implemented, not having a job will make us all wonder what the hell we were doing back in the day: killing ourselves to make a living.

Julia, please do a follow up on this in 10 years if you're still doing this to see just how great things are working out for your generation. I'm just astounded at how gullible people are to think that this AI revolution will result in massive abundance for everyone and life of leisure. It won't. Not even close, unless of course you manage to be in the minority of people on top of the heap in some sort of gated Utopia, and everyone else in some Dystopian nightmare.

This "civically engaged" thing is unlikely to be what we all expect. The fact that Julia used medieval nobility as an example of people that ended up "civically engaged" because they didn't need to work is the only clue we need to figure out how this may turn out. I'm an optimist concerning the "leave the drudge work to the computers and robots", but I think that it may well be for the best to leave the "civic engagement" to the AI as well, because frankly, history shows that we humans generally make a complete mess of this, to put it mildly.

We do not own the means of production. The ruling class does. That’s not changing, and it’s beyond delusional to believe that more automation and AI will improve life for anyone but the very wealthy. Without jobs, how will people survive? UBI? That’s an absurd notion. Americans not only do not have universal healthcare, but our costs for healthcare have only risen dramatically as we have become more technologically advanced. Yet many people believe we will get enough UBI to support ourselves(never mind the hyperinflation that would occur if UBI was implemented) AND universal healthcare? What kind of fantasy world do people live in? If we aren’t needed anymore for labor, we will be culled, plain and simple. That’s probably what’s happening now, actually. “But then who’s gonna buy all these corporations’ products?” Well, once we’re gone, the owner class won’t need money, because they will own all of the resources. Money doesn’t matter to them. They care only about resources, and specifically, about land. Their goal has always been to get rid of us, but it’s only been pretty recently that this has actually become a real possibility.

Just remember, this is a super exponential curve of technological process. Next 5 years will be WILD.

Even if these corporations get robots to do their work, you are absolutely mad if you think they will be passing any of 5he saving on to the consumer. Factories have been moving to automation for a long time and we have never gained more time.
Nothing will get cheaper, and there will be less jobs for humans. It’s not looking good in my books.

I'm sorry to be critical of your efforts producing this video, but it was a simple glamification of the current fear factor of AI:. Trillions of jobs displaced by AI. I swear, even Sam Altman said it. You need to work on your people skills. The reality is that the technology will come at a high price for the actual physical jobs it displaces. One that most companies can't afford, initially. Maybe 15 to 20 years down the road. I'm a Custodian at a high school in a school district that is $45 million dollars in deficit funds. No, I don't see my district plopping down $218million dollars to replace the 200+ custodians anytime in the near future. And we're just one of hundreds of school districts in the state. So I doubt state/federal funding are gonna jump in and save the day.
You offered no solid data on how or why these 100 million jobs are going to be impacted. You offered no real solution to what's going to happen to those 100 million people who are displaced and no longer earning a Paycheck in your fantasy utopian world. This was a glamification fluff piece to up your Creator cred and spook the stuffs. Period.

How do we afford to pay for things if we don’t have jobs?

Engaging civically on social media platforms is indeed a crucial way to reach a broad audience and effect change. Effective communication in this context isn't just about sharing information, but also about listening, responding, and fostering a community that can rally around common causes. As we move into a future where traditional jobs may be less prevalent, these skills could become even more vital in maintaining societal cohesion and driving positive initiatives. It's about leveraging the power of digital platforms to not only share your message but also inspire and involve others in meaningful ways.

Governments will need to put Taxes on Corporations that put people out of work so they will have funds to give to those unemployed people the money they need to live and survive. AI Corporations can't be allowed to keep 100% of the profits the make by putting people out of work. If they do, societies are likely to collapse.

Several decades ago it was believed that technology and robots would eliminate work and provide a life of leisure with a 15 hour workweek.

Same here my entire department has been laid off and I am Gen AI SME running daily AI Literacy Incubators in my company upskilling 1000s of staff on AI and the backwards business leads can’t see the value. It’s so sad.

I'm more concerned about what a lot of people will do, if they have nothing to do. A lot of people don't have a creative bone in their body and they find their purpose in life through work and routine tasks. You can see it with old guys who retire and 6 months later they're dead. Most of them lose all sense of purpose and degrade once they retire.

I love technology, but I think a lot of the people are overlooking the damage this will cause to society when it comes to developing well adjusted people. A lot of kids grow up by developing skills and taking on responsibility. They need to feel valuable and modern society has abandoned that in the name of progress.
