This is the theme song John Olson and I wrote for the Minnesota Wild. (John did most of it, I helped with the bridge.) Thanks to the great musicians who played on it and for Aaron Stokes music for the pad and drum sound they contributed.

People saying why Minnesota is not the "State of Hockey" let me lay some facts down for you
- Top 26 HS teams in the nation reside in Minnesota and 37 of the top 50 are in Minny. Some of our worst teams could dominate some states best teams
- Minnesota state hockey tournament is the biggest HS tourney in the the NATION even beating out the Texas State football tourney, while drawing people from all over the world to watch
- Only state to have 3 18 year old's selected in 1st round (2005)
- The Gophers are the ALL-TIME winningst team in the nation with 5 natty champs to boot,
- Also holding winning records against all major programs in the nation except for a tie with Boston University at 16 wins a piece 
- Most active and overall players Playing/Played in the NHL
- Most outdoor rinks per mile than any state in the nation
We may not have a banner yes but we also didn't have a team for 7 years, not our choice our owner was from the Texas area and basically stole our team. The Wild sell out every game while sporting one of the nicest arenas in the NHL. There is a love for hockey here that is rivaled by no one. And that my friends is why we are the State of Hockey. Its not about Banners its about passion.

The fact that our state's population is only 5.3 million and yet we make up about half of Team USA's hockey team. The 1980 team had the coach and 12/20 players from Minnesota alone. We create more NHL players than any other state by far. We have 5 division 1 college hockey programs. The Minnesota state high school hockey tournament is the largest youth hockey tournament in the country. Players like Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews and Nathan MacKinnon come to Minnesota to play high school hockey. Just in general the passion in Minnesota for hockey is rivaled only by Canadians in this part of the world. That is why Minnesota is the State of Hockey. It's not just a Wild marketing ploy. We were called that long before the Wild became a franchise.

I went to the game on Tuesday and it was amazing. Everybody-like the entire arena was belting this song loud and proud. Even the New Jersey fans liked it. I'm so proud to say that we are the state of hockey. That's why we have the home ice advantage is because everyone here is so proud of Minnesota Hockey.
