Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1 June [O.S. 20 May] 1804 – February 15 [O.S. 3 February] 1857) was the first Russian composer to gain wide recognition within his own country, and is often regarded as the fountainhead of Russian classical music. Glinka's compositions were an important influence on future Russian composers, notably the members of The Five, who took Glinka's lead and produced a distinctive Russian style of music.

Variations on "Das klinget so herrlich, das klinget so schön!" from Mozart's Opera 'The Magic Flute' (1827)

Susann McDonald, harp

As this work is part of a group of small harp works, due to LP/CD space repeats were omitted. I edited the first repeats in as good as I could.

Delightful. Utterly delightful. And written by a 23-year-old, too.

I find it strange that idiomatic harp music is basically the same as idiomatic keyboard music

Dear Mr. Glinka, your piece is beautiful but I'm afraid there is mo such Theme in Magic Flute.. Does anyone have any idea where did he get it? It slightly reminds me "Das klingelt so herrlich" (the moment when Papageno neutralizes negros with his Glockenspiel) but still it is so far from the original...
