With a $500 price difference between the two iPads, making a buying decision between the new 13" iPad Air and the new 13" iPad Pro might seem simple. In this video I compare the two iPads and let you know my choice. It's a photo finish!

Here are Chapter markers if you'd like to jump around:

Saw this video after purchasing a new 13” Pro and appreciated your review. I certainly don’t need all the bells and whistles but at my age I gladly have dipped into my kids inheritance.

I have always bought the Pro models but was vacillating this year. Your analysis absolutely confirmed my preference and was validating to be able to easily reinforce my decision and “go for Pro”! Many thanks!!

Just bought the 13” Pro. No regrets! I don’t NEED it, but I wanted it.

I bought the Pro 13” just for the OLED screen. It’s fantastic for movies, games, photos etc. So lightweight too.

I bought the 11” iPad Pro (M4) to replace my 7yr old 10.5” iPad Pro; I don’t need a fraction what the M4 will do, however I plan on keeping it 5yrs+ so I bought the Pro over the Air to future proof it for as long as possible. If future iOS start to use some of the extra power of the M chips than having a M4 over a M2 may make future proofing it for longer.

6:41 Spot on (!) That would be the key business model profit-making trick Apple uses to rake in those huge profits: change the supporting accessory component essential to its function on each newly designed rollouts. Exhibit 'A' -the power cord end adapter.

The Pro ( I went 11” base) with the pencil and the keyboard is a great set up. Love the screen! Cheers! Oh, subscribed.

I purchased the new iPad Air M2 11 inch. I like the smaller size because I’m small and it is easy to handle. My iPad is my computer and it functions quite well. I bought a screen saver and case that props up. Already had a Logitech keyboard and mouse. As you can see I’m quite content with my purchase. Hope this helps.

Interesting perspective! Thanks. I still think if I decide to get a larger iPad I’ll go with an air and probably not the 13”. I’ll have to compare the mini to both sizes at the store . I don’t use a keyboard, I have my iPads in a case and don’t use all the super high end features. When I do get new technology I get the new models ( not the existing). Definitely keeping my mini too

I have the iPad Pro(256GB) 5th generation that I bought on 2/15/22, I love it, use it everyday to watch movies/videos. I would have to go pull up my Apple receipt to see what I paid for it back then but they sure are getting pricey., I just bought a new 15-inch MacBook Air with M3 chip cause my old one was like 12 years old and couldn’t update the iOS anymore, boy that was pricey as well. Thank you for your videos, I learn a lot from you, I’m 70 and need all the help you provide us, have a blessed day.❤

I have been vacillating between the air and the pro myself. I, too, have the 12.9 2018 pro and had decided to upgrade this year. I like the Face ID of the pro, but what makes me hesitate is not just the $500 difference, but all the accessories on top. I would have to replace my keyboard and my pencil. So now the difference is $978. I appreciate the weight loss in the new unit because my current pro with keyboard is the weight of a laptop, and I carry mine to see clients regularly. I wonder what the new functions will be to utilize the M4. I have a strong case of FOMO (fear of missing out). So I am still on the fence.

Thanks for the tips! My pro died after 2 years and I just use it to read music so I may go with the Air this time as I just need the size really! Thanks again!

I have the 5th gen ippsd pri 12, 9 with 1T storage. I wasnot looking to trade but will check the value. The old one holds all my photos and editing apps which is my main concern. My 87th birthday is this month --- not wanting a lesser storage option. Not interested in anewer iPhone when my iPhoone 14Pro Max also has 1 T storage. Do not think my life expectancy makes new devices a good idea. I dont need to travel in the fast lane or learn to deal with too much new technology. Ism glad to have discovered your channel though. ❤

Agree with all of this. Just think about how long you use these devices daily, if it's more then 3 or 4 Hours, then i makes sence to shell out the big bucks to get the pro, your eyes will thank you. If you use the device only occassionally or max 1 or 2 hours daily then go for the Air.

As for the M4, I understand that chip is needed to support the Pro’s dual layer OLED display. So while Final Cut Pro might run faster with the M4, its real power is required to run the Tandem Display.

Trying to decide between the Air m2, 13 inch or the 5th gen 12.9 m1. It’s $ 829 at the Apple outlet. So for an extra $ 30 I can get the 12.9 pro with double the storage. I would take AppleCare for the next 5 years, so no worries there. The 12.9 M1 seems best. This will not leave my home. Used mostly on my lap.

I ordered the 13 inch air and am very happy with my purchase. Tried the Pro for a week, it's brilliant if you will use it to its full potential. For the average user the Air is a perfect balance between price and features.

Great video! I would like to hear about the sound in both iPads. I guess depending on people budget you can go either way.
