Every single one of these songs is a masterpiece, I swear. This is just my interpretation, but the melody and lyrics give me the impression of somebody who is jaded and tired, someone dragging their feet, almost like a funeral march. This song, to me, sounds like one of mixed feelings, both acceptance and quiet resignation, of hope and despair. It makes me think of two enemies on opposing sides, both battered and broken, calling for a truce because they are sick of fighting. It is the moment in a poker game when both opponents must show their hands. At the same time, the melody is also slightly optimistic in that if both people can expose themselves, their flaws, to each other and be vulnerable there is hope for reconciliation and catharsis.
