The Lost Maps Of TF2!

TF2 has a wide variety of colorful, fun and balanced maps to really compliment the movement based gameplay.
But did you know TC_Hydro existed, or was let alone one of the first 6 maps ever added to the game?
Today's video documents some of the lesser played maps in Team Fortress 2, and shines light on gamemodes that the community left behind.

My only real experience with the Arena-exclusive maps was with Vs. Saxton Hale mode and Randomizer.

Snowplow is one my favorite maps yet ive only ever found a match with it like maybe 12 times at the most in my 4 years of playing tf2. I honestly think they should just shove it in attack and defence seeing as its litterally the same thing but with train health as a timer.

Nice video! I have some additional info you might be interested in:
1) You forgot Lumberyard as a standalone arena map.
2) As the creator of Byre, I can forgive you for not knowing about the map. I get that reaction pretty often.
3) I got the chance to ask Valve if Arena could ever come back, and part of the reason why it hasn't is that the gamemode's code is completely different from all the others, and would effectively need to be rewritten from scratch to be compatible with matchmaking.
4) Passtime was developed by Escalation Studios in conjunction with Valve and Red Robot. They were acquired by Zenimax (Bethesda) in 2017 and Passtime hasn't been touched since to my knowledge.
5) Asteroid and Cactus Canyon stopped development at roughly the same time that Cayle George (Hightower, Foundry, Decoy) left Valve. It's totally unconfirmed if he was involved in the development of those maps, but the coincidence makes it seem likely.

doomsday was my first map i've played in tf2.
They really do need to put Arena in Alt. Gamemodes. I like Arena

You chose the best time to act! Lately the Tf2 community has been growing more than normal an you can probably see that with your views.
I hope you grow more into a fully fledged Tf2ber!

Hearing you talk about Cactus Canyon and Asteroid hurt so much. I really loved those maps.

I'm genuinely hoping pass time gets more attention.
It feels like a fun game mode, even fun with great teamwork

I always wished to play some rounds on Offblast, Watchtower, or Cactus Canyon. But I never will be able to.

I freaking love the attention to detail with the editing. The empty environment noises with no music with the map transitions, signifying how forgotten and desolate the maps were, were too perfect!

An easy way to think of the territorial control map mode is like this- multiple maps stiched into one. When a team wins on one part, they move across to another part, but you may as well just be playing on another map.

Hydro has been ignored and forgotten since even Jerma and STAR_ were making TF2 videos. I remember specifically the time machine video Jerma made.

7 years in fact. 'A Blast From The Past'.

2:50 Looks like you forgot one! Lumberyard is also an Arena-exclusive map, which is crazy to think about because it was the first alpine-themed map in TF2 history. I don't even think the game had a texture for green grass until Lumberyard came out. How you remembered Byre and forgot Lumberyard is beyond me :P

I've always thought the Arena-exclusive maps should've ALL been converted to KOTH maps like Sawmill and Nucleus were. Sure, Lumberyard is small, but I love its visuals and atmosphere. All those maps deserved better.
