100% agreed. Fashion spends too much time looking at clothes that are revolutionary, and there's a new one around the corner at every fashion show. Meanwhile, fashion for men outside the catwalk is still stuck, restricted and is unable to change and move forward.

everytime something new is introduced within men’s fashion its usually called “feminine” or “gay”, and thats the sad thing, nothing new can be introduced because it will never be “masculine” enough for a lot of people

Men's fashion is like a game, you start out with the default options and branch out as you go, bonus points if you choose the ecclesiastical class, you get more options if you join certain groups or certain classes.

Shouldn't we first consider why there is a box in the first place?

Women’s is where I want to be in awe, it’s where I want to see who and how they can make it bigger and bigger. Men’s is where I expect to see change, small refined details that tells me, we are heading in the right direction.

Would love a more in depth video on Fear of gods new stuff and maybe the 7th collection from you. As well as the Zegna collab. I usually don’t hear much other than people not liking the price or that it’s not the traditional streetwear that they became known for. Loving your thoughts and videos in general btw keep up the good work!

Edward Sexton and Tommy Nutter were legends for pushing the boundary. They still made British structured suits bespoke on saville row, but they changed the cut, used unique fabrics and details, and revolutionized the industry in ways no fashion designer, not even Armani, has matched since. I also love more avant-garde style, but I think the work from Nutter and Sexton is no less artful and no less meaningful, while having a massive impact.

the problem isn't just culture
it's a lot harder to find interesting shapes and silhouettes for the boxy torso men have, which is why avant-garde fashion in general doesn't seem to look right on men as it does women

I heard this from a Bliss Foster vid. Not sure if he coined it, but it's an amazing analysis

There's fine line between Art & Fashion. The former is generally hung or displayed where as the later is meant to be worn. As far as Catwalks are concerned, they're strictly for show. The sole aim os to make The Cover so you can sell more bobbles & perfume. (AKA; Where's La Croix???)

Why do you think, the lapeless jackets don't work?

Didn’t someone say that the goal of mens fashion was cool pants?

Imagine how menswear would look if toxic masculinity didn't hold us back. Like imagine if Baroque dressing never went out of style or pink stayed as a men's color like WOW

I think it’s a reflection of where men and women are at culturally (in the western world) women are on a journey of intensive liberation and empowerment which is reflected in the vast range of styles and innovation we are seeing in their fashion design.

Men however, are still struggling to define/align themselves with the new perspective of femininity. There is the option of feminising men’s clothes but there is also the continuation of adapting the classic silhouette of suit and tie. This is reflective of men’s tepid introduction to their softer side vs the ultra-masculine pushback against the demasculinisation of the modern man.

Ultimately I think that men will either progress into a totally new realm over the next 40 years and we will see much more innovative experimentation in their fashion vocabulary; OR we will see a connection to the divine masculine express itself through much more neutral tones and a connection to the earth and nature as men become protectors of the land (fulfilling their inherent need to play the role of the protector) rather than the classical protector of women and the family.
