This Ganzo 720 more than pays for itself. 440C isn't one of the noted super steels anymore, but it's a super useful steel. I'd be scared to put a lot of my expensive steels through the elements, like this one lived through.

I still have have some old knifes With 440c blade.
All of them are in good shape, folders and fixed blades.
Some just sit in the fishing box, no problems at all.

Years ago I saw Bird sharpen a 440C Ganzo and when I saw him being surprised at how well the edge came up for him is when I got on the Ganzo train.

I love having beater knives. I use them just like I do tools. In my past I've even been break the tips off a knife and grind it down to something different. Do that with tools too. All hail the beaters!

I have the 727s (rat2-like one) in 440c. All I'm gonna say is that I have been cutting wood trim and vinyl flooring with the thing and only sharpened once on a sharpmaker. Lock is still strong, no blade-play (after literally beating on the thing for probably a year), awesome fidget action, and an edge that will cut freestanding paper easily. Ganzo=budget perfection.

It is easy to get caught up in super steels. But my Aus 8 holds up to this day, and i have never been gentle with it lol

When I was a kid I dreamed of the day I could afford a real 440c knife. By the time I got there the knife industry grew up too. Still, even with all the flavor of the month "Super Steel" out there I'd never scoff at a well built 440c knife.

Cold Steel Pro Lite is my go to hard use knife. Triad lock and Cold Steel’s 4116 holds a great edge.

I've had one of those in black for a number of years and it's been a solid tool. It's my yard work knife. Heavy for daily carry, but has a secure grip, solid lock up and easy to sharpen. I'll admit that using it for chopping limbs has caused some vertical play, but it still locks securely and does the work.

I started out with Ganzos and thier 440C actually holds a pretty good edge, I had a couple rolling around my tool bag, and used one to take out carpet in a 2 story town house and even after that still had a decent enough edge definitely not super sharp but a lot sharper than I thought it would be.

Ganzo's are great working knives. You don't have to worry about messing up their appearance..
